Locations & barns
Save the barns, farms, and show grounds you visit so scheduling and routing are one click.
The places you drive to — barns, farms, training facilities, show grounds — are saved as Location contacts. Once a location is saved with its address, scheduling a call there is fast and decavet can use the map position for travel and routing.
Prerequisites: none.
Why save a location
- Pick it from a list when scheduling instead of retyping the address.
- Keep gate codes, parking notes, and a barn phone number in one place.
- Let decavet calculate distance and order your stops for the day.
Steps
- Click Contacts → New Contact.
- Set the category to Location.
- Choose Business if it's a facility name, or Individual if it's a private property under someone's name.
- Enter the name (e.g., "Miller Farm").
- Add the address — pick the suggested match so the map position is set.
- (Optional) Add a primary contact — the person who lets you in or manages the barn — and a phone number under contact methods.
- (Optional) Add notes for gate codes, road conditions, or where to park.
- Click Save.
You'll know it worked when…
The location appears in Contacts under the Location category, and shows up as a choice when you set the location on a new appointment.
Tip: A barn can be both a Location and a Client if you bill the barn directly. Keep it as one contact — the category that matters for billing is Client, and you can still pick it as the appointment location.
